Millrace is a small independent publishing company, based at the edge of the English Peak District. You won't find books quite like ours anywhere else. Their format is distinctive and the writing is lively, often eccentric and full of ideas and dry humour. They are attractive and built to last, for we believe they are books you will want to keep.
Small format hardbacks, they are a reminder of the standards by which books were once produced: fine paper, simple but elegant dustjackets, properly stitched bindings, carefully illustrated, often with specially commissioned drawings.

We specialise in hill walking and climbing, and travel-history — but occasionally stray into other areas when we come across something irresistible. Our print runs are short, usually no more than 1,000 copies.
