The grindstone

Millrace’s occasional diary…

September 2007

With Graham Wilson leaping to the defence of the small independent bookshop [click here to read] and Elizabeth Cripps quizzing mountain biographer Ronald Turnbull [click here to read] Millrace’s first newsletter, Penstock, got off to a lively start this summer. We’re looking forward to another issue this autumn.

Turnbull’s biography of Ben Macdui The Life and Times of the Black Pig is at the printers in Padstow and should be ready in early October. Not only is it a hugely entertaining read, but it also gives incentive for sixteen ways up Britain’s second highest mountain. (Forget the quick route from the car park.) Below is Colin Brash’s picture of Pygmy Ridge, one of ten drawings in the book.
