Spring 2012

Producing our outdoor books and working with first-class authors over the last decade or so has been a real pleasure. Alas, all good things must come to an end and we shall not be publishing any more in our outdoor list. But we do still have stocks of most of the titles, which can be bought direct from us by ringing us on 01663 765080 or from Cordee or Amazon.

Also still very much available are our Jane Duncan titles and our travel/history books. These, similarly, can be ordered by ringing us on 01663 765080 or bought via our stall on Amazon Marketplace.

Meanwhile, we’re delighted to report on the success of our illustrator Kate Baylay, who did the jacket illustrations for My Friends the Miss Boyds and My Friend Monica. Since graduating last summer Kate has designed the brilliant cover for the new Everyman edition of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials (see here) and is now working on a major fairy-book project.

In last summer’s News we mentioned Mountain Views by Rupert Hoare, illustrated with superb colour photos and published by Vertebrate Press. Sadly Rupert died last September, shortly after his memoir came out, but it has had excellent reviews and sold out rapidly. This fine memorial to one man’s passion for mountains and wild places was reprinted this spring and is now available again via Cordee or Amazon.

At Millrace, we had a special involvement with Mountain Views. Viv was contacted by Rupert early last year and asked to help with the initial editing, a project she enjoyed very much. If you’re looking for similar professional assistance, please email her on .
