About the Millrace Books website
This site is written in Extensible HyperText Markup Language (XHTML) 1.1. This is a language very similar to HTML, and is the successor of HTML. This language is described by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This site uses the strict form of the language, giving a very clean document. As well as using a conformant language, these pages have been checked to make sure that they are valid XHTML.
As XHTML does not impose any formatting onto a document, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used to provide a consistent look to the XHTML. This allows for rapid development, as well as a consistent look throughout the site.
Although this site has been checked in several browsers, it was developed using Mozilla Firefox. This is an open–source internet browser that renders almost all CSS information correctly (unlike Microsoft Internet Explorer).
I have tried my best to create a site that is simple to use, pleasing to look at and still complies to the W3C standards. However, if you have any comments, suggestions or bug reports, please email me (alastair at millracebooks dot co dot uk) and I’ll try to address your issue.
Thanks for your interest in Millrace Books!
